Birthday Boy

We celebrated the day of Andrew's first Birthday with a stack of sweet potato slices with a candle. He is learning to blow, but needed a little help with this one.



We had Grandmas & Grandpas over for a real party the next evening.

Multi-Tasking

I found Adrie sitting on the potty today, talking to my Mom on my cell phone. I may regret showing her how to use speed-dial.

Sweet Sleeper

I was inspired by my friend Katie to take these pictures of Andrew sleeping. He is a sweet boy.

Soccer Ball

Adrie: "Mom, have you seen my soccer ball?"
Me: "No, I'm not sure where it is."
. . . pause . . . pause . . .
Adrie: "I think its out in the driveway . . . Papa's truck stepped on it."

Mickey Mouse Hotcakes

Adrie: "Mom, we should have pancakes this morning. How do you make your pancakes?"
Me: "I make mine in round circles."
Adrie: "Grandpa Bob makes his like Mickey Mouse, with 'chicolate chop' eyes."

A Real Compliment

Adrie: "Mommy . . . I just love you . . . (adds a sigh for emphasis) . . . you're so warm and fluffy."

Funny, these are the same thoughts I had of my own Mom when I was young. :)

Inauguration Day

We've been watching Inauguration Day stuff all day long. After seeing a news excerpt tonight,

Adrie asked me, "Mom, is Obama coming over tonight?"
I said, "Not that I know of."
She said, "But now that he's our President, he might want to come over and tell us something."

Christmas Morning

Gamblin' Girl

Adrie watching a TV commercial this morning:

"Mom, I want to go to the casino."
Me: "Really? Why is that?" (trying to think of the appropriate response)
Adrie: "Well . . . I want to go to the casino."
Me: "You know, the casino isn't a place for kids to go, just grown-ups."
. . . pause . . .
. . . pause . . .
Adrie: (with tears literally welling up in her eyes) "But Mom . . . where will I go?"
Me: "What do you mean? You don't have to go anywhere."
Adrie: "But where will go? . . . if I can't go to the casino?" (still threatening tears)
Me: "Mommy & Papa don't really go to the casino, so I don't think we have to worry about it too much."
Adrie: " . . . but . . . if kids can't go to the casino, where do I go? . . . "

Adrie

"Talk talk talk talk, yak yak yak yak, blah blah blah . . . Mom . . . I didn't sleep good at all last night; I barely have the energy to talk . . . blah blah blah, talk talk talk, yakity yakity yak . . ."

Christmas Wrapping

This is sibling love in its earliest stages: Adrie came up to me this morning with a roll of toilet paper in her hand. She asked me, "Mom, can I wrap Andrew's Christmas present with this?"

Imaginary Friends

The Wellersons strike again! Adrie and I are eating lunch at our kitchen counter:

Adrie: "Mom . . . I don't like the Wellersons."
Me: "Why is that?"
Adrie: "Because they give out chocolate-poop-treats, and I don't like them."

I guess I would feel the same way about any friends, imaginary or not, who tried to trick me with a treat like that. I laughed - I couldn't keep a straight face.

We Love Skype!

Adrie and Andy love to talk to our family & friends on Skype. They can talk to (and see) Aunty Em (Anna) in Portland, and other family members here in Bremerton. It always makes us laugh when we're talking to Grandpa Bob, Adrie will tell him to "Pass Granny over" when she wants to talk to Granny.
